Wahoo pushed a small but useful update to the ELEMNT ROAM yesterday. The new software adds live track sharing to WhatsApp.
Previously, you could only share your live location via email or Strava. Now you can send a tracking link directly through WhatsApp to anyone, even if they don’t have the Wahoo app.
How It Works
Start your ride as normal. Open the live track menu and select WhatsApp. Choose a contact and send.
The recipient gets a link that opens in their browser. They see your location update every 30 seconds. No app install needed on their end.
Battery Impact
Live tracking uses additional battery. Wahoo says expect about 10-15% more drain over a typical 3-hour ride. GPS accuracy also improves when live tracking is on since it polls more frequently.
The update applies to ROAM, ROAM v2, and BOLT v2 models. Older units won’t receive this feature.
