How to Follow Friends on Zwift

Finding and following friends on Zwift has gotten harder than it should be with all the app updates and interface changes flying around. As someone who coordinates group rides regularly, I learned everything there is to know about making the social features actually work. Today, I will share it all with you.

That’s what makes Zwift’s social features endearing to us community-focused cyclists — riding with friends transforms indoor training from lonely grind to shared experience.

Getting Set Up

Probably should have led with this section, honestly — the companion app is essential for this.

Download the Zwift Companion App for iOS or Android. Log in with your Zwift credentials. This app handles most social features better than the main Zwift interface.

Finding Users

But how do you actually find people? In essence, the Companion App search function. Tap the magnifying glass icon, enter a name or username, and browse the results.

Select the correct profile from matches. Their page shows activity stats, recent workouts, and the follow button at the top.

Following Someone

I’m apparently in the camp that follows everyone I ride with. Frustrated by losing track of riding buddies, I now follow immediately after any group ride. Their activities appear in your feed, making coordination easier.

Tap the Follow button on their profile. Done. Their rides now show up for you.

Interacting with Followers

Following is just the start. Give Ride Ons — Zwift’s version of likes. Comment on activities. Encourage each other. These interactions build the community that makes Zwift worth using.

Managing Your Network

The Following and Followers tabs in Companion track your connections. Unfollow anyone by visiting their profile and tapping Unfollow. Keep your feed relevant to people you actually care about.

Privacy Settings

If you prefer privacy, Companion settings include options to make your profile private. Only approved followers see your activities. Find this under settings in the privacy section.

Building Your Network

Join Zwift groups on Facebook and Reddit. Participate in group rides and events. Interact during and after these rides. Regular engagement builds a network that keeps indoor training social.

Making the Call

Following friends on Zwift is straightforward once you know where to look. The Companion App handles everything. Find users, tap follow, interact regularly. Virtual training becomes better with company — build your network and actually use it.
