SRAM Drops Prices on Force AXS Groupset

SRAM just made their electronic shifting more accessible with a surprise price cut on the Force AXS groupset.

The Force AXS road groupset dropped from $2,700 to $2,200 as of this week, matching competitor pricing from Shimano’s Ultegra Di2 range. The move comes as the company clears inventory ahead of what many suspect is an updated Force AXS platform later this year.

For riders who’ve been eyeing electronic shifting but balked at the premium, this creates an interesting decision point. Force AXS shares much of its technology with the flagship Red AXS, including the same wireless protocol, battery system, and shifting mechanism.

The timing isn’t coincidental. Shimano recently announced expanded availability of 105 Di2, putting pressure on mid-range electronic groupsets. Meanwhile, Campagnolo has been aggressive with Chorus EPS pricing in European markets.

“We’re seeing the electronic groupset market mature rapidly,” says industry analyst Mark Peters. “Prices that seemed unthinkable two years ago are now standard.”

The discount applies to both 1x and 2x configurations. Power meter options remain at their original pricing, suggesting this is more about moving shifter and derailleur stock than a permanent repositioning.

For context, Force AXS debuted in 2019 at $2,640. This new price point represents a meaningful drop from launch pricing while the technology has only improved through firmware updates.

If you’re building or upgrading a gravel or road bike, this is worth considering before the current stock runs out.
