Shimano Finally Goes Wireless with Dura-Ace R9300

The cycling industry just got a major shake-up. Shimano announced today that their new Dura-Ace R9300 groupset will ship with wireless shifting as standard, marking the end of an era for wired electronic drivetrains.

The move comes after years of SRAM dominating the wireless segment with their eTap AXS system. Industry analysts say this levels the playing field significantly.

“We’ve been waiting for this,” said Pro Tour mechanic Marcus Webb. “Wireless is simply cleaner to install and maintain.”

Pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but expect it to match or slightly exceed current Dura-Ace Di2 costs. Availability starts Q2 2025.

For riders still on mechanical groupsets, this might be the push to finally go electronic.
